Intelligence units have informed the government today that the governing party would definitely lose the Eastern Provincial Council election that is scheduled to be held on the 8^th, reliable sources said.

 

Intelligence reports say that the election campaign that was on a tie is now in favor of the opposition political parties. Reports say that the TNA is heading the campaign while the SLMC and the UNP are in second and third positions respectively.

 

In such a scenario, it is likely that an opposition coalition would rule the Eastern Provincial Council. Sources said a secret discussion headed by the President is to be held in Polonnaruwa tonight to decide on the steps to be taken to reverse the current situation in the East.
