'Jaffna Muslim' and its dedication for our community...!

Jaffna Muslim has been providing its community service since its inception some years ago.  It has been spending all its proceeds from its adverts for good charitable works. Particularly, for our community works. It has been displaying election photos and posters of different political parties. This has been done only during the election sessions. It has been providing its journalistic service without any discrimination. Unlike some other websites, it has been following some journalistic ethics and morals. It did not support any party or any group. It has been presenting and reporting all sort of balanced news without any favouritism and party bias.  These are indeed signs of objective journalism. It is been reporting objectively all news related to our community issues. Mainly it has been focussing on our community issues and problems. 

We have seen many Muslim journalists. Only handful of Muslim journalists have been working with dedication and commitment to our community matters. Journalism has become a money making profession today. People do it to make money and perks from it. Yet, Jaffna Muslim has been spending all its proceeds from its adverts for communal projects, sometimes, helping poor, orphans and other charity works. Although it does not make a large amount of money whatever it makes it spends on charitable works. May Allah reward this brother abundantly this and next world. 

  This is a good exemplary precedent in Muslim journalism. I hope that all other Muslim websites should follow this good examples. Jaffna Muslim is administrated by one dedicated Muslim Brother. Yet, it has made great impacts on Muslim community. It is a household name among Sri Lankan Muslim communities in Sri Lanka and abroad. 

   If we could do collectively some good journalistic works, Muslim community could make a greater contribution in Sri Lanka and abroad. Disunity and group mania do not allow us to do such collective works among us. Otherwise, why cannot we do collective journalistic works? Unlike in the past today, we have more talented people and we have more educated people. We could do lots of community works if we can maximize the use of   journalism in right direction. Our journalism has been used and misused for some pity arguments and issues. We should move on and see how modern journalism is used for betterment of humanity. 

  I should congratulate Jaffna Muslim for its dedication . It started in a simply way. It rapidly grew within few years. It is because of profound dedication and determination of one Muslim professional journalist. He has been working with sincerity for the sake of Allah and that is why that he managed to do this for our community. Of course, he has faced many challenges and problems and yet, he managed to overcome all with help of Allah. May Allah give him a long life and good health to continue his service to our community?
