WATCH : SL to continue cremation of Covid dead, Opp MP highlights Virologists’ report allowing burials
Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi today informed Parliament that Sri Lanka will continue to cremate Covid-19 victims as recommended by the expert committee appointed to consider burial of Covid victims.
She said that the decision will not be withdrawn on religious, political, or other grounds.
When opposition MP Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam raised a question on the recent committee report handed over by a group of Virologists allowing Covid burials, the Minister said that the report has been referred to the main committee but no decision has been made.
The Health Minister also revealed the names of the main expert committee deciding the matter headed by Dr. Channa Perera.
