பொலிஸ் விசேட அதிரடிப்படையின் கட்டளை அதிகாரியாக செயற்பட்ட, பயங்கரவாத தடுப்பு, பிரபுக்கள் பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் உளவுத் தகவல்கள் தொடர்பில் விஷேட தேர்ச்சி பெற்ற அதிகாரியான சிரேஷ்ட பிரதி பொலிஸ் மா அதிபர் எம்.ஆர்.லத்தீப் இன்றுடன் 4 ஓய்வு பெற்றார்.

Chief of Police Special Task Force Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police M.R. Latheef has retired from service with effect from Tuesday, February 04, 2020.
Latheef who held various positions in the National Intelligence Service, the State Intelligence Service and the Terrorism Investigation Division is recognized as a talented police officer in his long-running service to the justice system of this country. He is known for his active involvement in seizing many drug traffickers and underworld members.
Latheef was deeply involved in fighting against drug peddlers and organized criminals. During the past six months, he had nabbed 798 kgs, of drugs from drug dealers.
Under his command, Latheef was successful in busting three large drug hauls in Beruwela, Kollupitiya and Dehiwela. In Beruwela alone, he found 798 kgs of drugs.
Latheef in his service of 60 years was prepared for retirement in February 2019, however, he was granted a service extension for another year till Feb. 2020.
