Donation of 11 types of Essential Medical Supplies worth 26 Million to Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children in Sri Lanka
A donation of essential medical supplies worth over 26 Million Sri Lankan Rupees to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children in Colombo, by IHRC representing the Sri Lankan Muslim Communities in Canada was made through Zam Zam Foundation in Sri Lanka in partnership with IDRF, a Canadian NGO based in Toronto.
Dr. G. Wijesuriya, Director of the Hospital accepted the donation of 11 types of critical medical supplies from Dr. Aslam Hasana Lebbe & Mr. Rimzy Kutubdeen, Directors of IHRC, who attended the event held at the Hospital Auditorium in Colombo on 28th of February 2023. Chairman of Zam Zam Foundation Mufthi Yoosuff Haniffa and Directors together with Ash-sheikh. Arkam Nooramith took part in the symbolic handover ceremony, which was attended by Medical Doctors, Nurses and other stakeholders of the hospital.
The donation which was made on a request from hospital authorities due to the financial crisis in the island nation, resulting in severe shortages in medicine in public hospitals. The donations towards the project were primarily from the Sri Lankan expats in Toronto while its noteworthy to mention that many non-Sri Lankans in Toronto too took part in this worthy cause.
Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, which treats thousands of children annually, is the largest tertiary care hospital in Sri Lanka exclusively treating and managing children from all parts of the country. The hospital director in his remarks to the audience mentioned that the donations received from IHRC, through IDRF and Zam Zam Foundation, was sufficient for continuous critical care of children in the hospital for approximately 06 months. He and the other consultants appreciated the donation.
இந்த நாட்டிலுள்ள குழந்தைகளின் சுகநலத்தைப் பேணுவதில் டாக்டர்கள், அரசாங்கத்துக்கு அடுத்தபடியாக இந்த நாட்டில் வாழும் முஸ்லிம்கள் முன்னணியில் இருக்கின்றனர். ஓர் உயிரைக் காப்பாற்றுவதில் அவர்கள் ஒரு போதும் இனத்தையோ மதத்தையோ பார்ப்பதில்லை என்பதை இந்த நன்கொடை தௌிவாகக்காட்டுகின்றது. இந்த முஸ்லிம்களைத் தான் அவர்கள் மரணித்தபின் இந்த பூமியிலும் புதைப்பதற்கு அருகதையற்ற அசுத்தம் என தீர்மானித்து அவர்களின் இறந்த உடல்களை மாலைத்தீவுக்கு அனுப்பிவைக்குமாறு கோதபாயா ராஜபக்ஸ கட்டளையிட்டான். ஆம் காபிர்களுக்கு முஸ்லிம்கள் அசுத்தம் தான். நாட்டு மக்கள் பெரிய சத்திரசிகிச்சைக்கு உற்படுத்த செலவாகும் பணத்தின் ஒருபகுதியை அரசாங்கம் இலவசமாக வழங்க அன்றைய சனாதிபதி ஜே.ஆர். ஜனாதிபதி நிதியை ஆரம்பித்து வைத்து அதனால் பலநூறு மக்கள் பயன்பெற்றனர். அந்த பணத்தை பெரும்பான்மையோ சிறுபான்மையோ யாருக்கும் அந்த கோதா வழங்கவில்லை. அதாவது சாவப் போகும் மனிதருக்கும் எந்த உதவியும் செய்யும் ஒரு எண்ணமும் அந்த கோதாபாயாவுக்கு இருக்கவில்லை. அவனை சனாதிபதியாக்கிய 69 இலட்சத்துக்கும் எந்த வகைக் களிமண் தலையில் இருக்கின்றது என்பது யாருக்கும் கண்டுபிடிக்கமுடியாமல் இருப்பதுதான் மிகப் பெரிய இரகசியம்.
