Relief Coordination Centre (RCC) Hotline – 0117-490415

The All Ceylon Jammiyyathul Ulama convened a meeting on the 20th of May 2016 with representatives of ACJU, CDMF, YMMA, MFCD, Muslim Aid, National Shoora Council, Jamaathus Salaamah, AMYS, SLJI, NIDA, IBNU UMAR OBA, Masjidun Noor, ACJU Colombo District and SocialService.lk.

It was agreed by all parties present that the relief effort undertaken by the various organizations needed to be structured and planned out in order to avoid duplication and ensure that each and every affected area, family and individual is attended to.

A decision was taken at the meeting to address the below areas as it was highlighted to be prioritized;

1. Lobbying the government - This is to ensure that financial assistance is obtained from the government in order to meet the immediate requirements.

2. Information Collection & Verification - It is learned that many displaced families, other than those who are in temporarily relief camp, have settled at their relatives residences these families have to be identified and assisted.

3. Coordinating Hub - In order to avoid duplication and wastages a coordinating Hub to be established to centralize the control of inflow and outflow of goods.

In this regard a new Relief Coordination Centre (RCC) has been setup at the ACJU head office, Colombo 10.

ACJU requests all Organization to coordinate with the decision taken at the meeting.

  1. It is an important to find a minimum figure for the people effected will be get as soon as possible. Onece they returns to there homes. This will help them to start up there life. This figure must be put forward to the govt. Govt must come forward to assist the people rather than delaying the proccess. We have seen how acted in the past and forget all about. Also govt must appoint a body to over see the work done by the govt which can include retired judges.

  2. It is also effective to make small group of effected family. Eg if there are 200 families. 4 group of 50 family and each group lead by relief leader and personals. This will be under RCC. Basically draw a effective model to do the relief work effectively and easily.also it will help to identify the individual family needs and help them accordingly.
    This is my small suggestion.
