“There could be nearly 30,000 Covid patients in Colombo City”

Nearly 30,000 people are estimated to have contracted the coronavirus within Colombo, Chief Medical Officer of Health Colombo Municipal Council Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni said.

The CMC selected 400 samples for the estimation and found 19 results to be positive.

Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni said that this is nearly 5% of the samples, and when compared with the population in Colombo it is considered to be nearly 30,000 people.

He warned that these persons could be asymptomatic and found to be traveling within various areas of Colombo as they are unaware of the transmission. (NewsWire)
