ReplyDeleteAlhamdulillah,
"The Muslim Voice" appreciates the courage and firmness of the Secretary, Colombo District Mosques Federation for having addressed this strong, well explained letter to the Hon. Prime Minister dated the 10th., June 2016, with reference to CONSTITUTION RIGHTS and issues of the Muslim Community viz-a-viz the Bathiya Street/Road Mosque matter. This letter to the PM can be the beginning of the creation of a political image of a community which is a "POWER TO ITSELF" Alhamdulillah, that is NO MORE willing to bow down its head to Nationalist Racism by a handful of so-called Nationalistic Buddhist elements. Muslims have their own DIGNITY and they wish our DIGNITY to be respected by the Government, be it Mahinda Rajapaksa former government or the Yahapalana government of present. While this encouraging step forward has been taken to resolve a challenge faced by our community, it is an approach that should be taken in all matters concerning the community, wherever it is reported and in whichever province it happens, Insha Allah. The Muslim Voice is happy that it has played its role in energizing and vitalizing this new thinking and will relentlessly strive to pursue it in all matters concerning the community, Insha Allah. While considering this as an encouraging step forward, we should NOT FORGET that what the PM's Office or the Yahapalana Politicians have told or conferred, may ONLY be a TEMPORARY SOLUTION to this problem. It can be a "PATCH WORK" by the Yahapalana Government NOT to ALLOW the Muslims votes to erode further, from their vote bank. What we need is FIRM COMMITMENTS via LEGISLATIONS on these matters/issues. I am confident that the learned young lawyer – Shiraz Noordeen will understand my point in terms of “CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS”. As such,
What is needed is that, INSHA ALLAH – all the 175 Mosques in Colombo, Muslim Ministers, Muslim Parliamentarians, Muslim Civil Society Groups, Muslim Religious Organizations, Mosque Alliances, Muslim Academics, Muslim Intellectuals and Muslim politicians should formulate a memorandum to be presented to the Minister of Muslim Cultural Affairs REQUESTING the Minister to SUBMIT a CABINET PAPER REQUESTING PARLIAMENT TO AUTHORIZE SRI LANKA MUSLIMS TO HAVE THE RIGHT TO CONSTRUCT THEIR PLACES OF WORSHIP ADHERING TO THE CIVIL AND ADMINISTRTIVE LAWS AND REGULATIONS OF SRI LANKA AS SPECIFIED WITHIN THE CONSTITUTION. If there are NO such laws in the present Constitution, then, under the proposed Constitutional Reforms, such laws have to be enacted/written under the “SECTION OF RIGHTS as “RELIGIOUS RIGHTS”. It is time up that a NEW POLITICAL FORCE that will be honest and sincere that will produce "CLEAN" and diligent Muslim Politicians to stand up and defend the Muslim Community politically and otherwise, especially from among the YOUTH, has to emerge from within the Sri Lanka Muslim Community to face any new election in the coming future, Insha Allah.

ReplyDeleteThe letter is very informative and self-explanatory. Jazak Allah.. to brother Shiraz Noordeen. We want an emphatic reply from Ranil fortwirh. Ranil cannot turns a blind eye as he tottering to implement the fuel-formula in parliament and playdown the criticality of this matter. Mosque is a matter which is close to our heart and thus this yahapalanaya must act rationally.
