மஹிந்த ராஜபக்சவின் பதவி விலகலுடன் கோட்டாபய ராஜபக்சவின் பாதுகாப்பு செயலாளர் பதவியும் செயலிழப்பதால் புதிய பாதுகாப்பு செயலாளர் ஒருவரும் பதவியேற்கவுள்ளார்.
இந்நிலையில் புதிய ஜனாதிபதியாக மைத்திரிபால சிறிசேன இன்று மாலை பதவியேற்கும் நிகழ்வில் புதிய பாதுகாப்பு செயலாளரும் இன்று மாலை பதவியேற்கவுள்ளார் என்று தெரிவிக்கப்படுகின்றது.
