Invitation for a Media Conference on the latest Issue in Bangladesh on 3rd October 2012 at Hotel Ranmuthu

We, the Muslim Council of Sri Lanka - an umbrella organization of over 100 Muslim Civil Society organizations, wish to express its deep concern about the recent ethnic disturbances in Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh both are brotherly countries with rich Buddhist cultural heritage and historical background.  Both countries are founder members of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) organization.

The Muslims, being a minority in Sri Lanka enjoy religious and cultural freedom second to none. Any ethnic incident that take place against a minority in Bangladesh or any other SAARC nation is surely to reflect in our country Sri Lanka too. We kindly urge the Government of Bangladesh to ensure that our Buddhist brothers and sisters in Bangladesh who are a minority like us in Sri Lanka are afforded the necessary protection, security, respect and religious tolerance as we enjoy in this country.

We, the Muslim Council of Sri Lanka strongly condemn any violence against innocent civilian people anywhere in the globe and we have organized a media conference on this regard on 3rd of October 2012. We kindly request you send your news coverage team to do a coverage of the session.

Venue: Hotel Ranmuthu, 112, Galle Road, Colombo – 03.

Time: 11.00am
