‘Does Islam promote violence’- Guest lecture by Ambassador Sadiq at BMICH today
The Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute (BIDTI) has organized a special guest lecture titled “Does Islam Promote Violence: A personal perspective of the Easter Sunday Attacks in
Sri Lanka” on Thursday 30th January at 3:30 pm at the BIDTI, BMICH in Colombo
The guest lecturer will be A.M.J. Sadiq , additional secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Relations for bilateral affairs in Colombo.
During his speech, Sadiq is expected to explore the purported connection between Islam and the ideology that inspires terrorist groups to commit murder and mayhem in the name of Islam.
Sadiq joined the foreign service in 1988 and has held several positions in the foreign ministry and Sri Lankan missions abroad. He was also the island’s ambassador in Saudi Arabia.
He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colombo and Master’s degree in Public Management from the National University of Singapore(NUS) and Harvard University.
