New Zealand Rugby Player Ofa Tu’ungafasi and Sonny Bill William’s Mother convert to Islam!
The New Zealand Terrorist Attacks brought about a change, whereby more people are now entering the Muslim Community.
It’s true that we simply just can’t get enough of the silver lining that came out as a result of New Zealand’s tragic Christchurch Mosque massacre. Though Islamophobia sadly continues worldwide; there are plenty of positive news too, and this surely is one of them.
The All Blacks rugby player Ofa Tu’ungafasi has accepted Islam following a visit with his Muslim teammate Sonny Bill Williams over the weekend to the survivors of Christchurch mosque terrorist attack. John Fontain wrote on Tuesday that:
“Allahu akbar today Sonny Bill William’s mother and his teammate Offa Tuungafasi accepted Islam. May Allah make it easy for them and grant them firdous ameen. Podcast coming soon Inshallah.”
The All Blacks player is originally from Tonga. Tu’ungafasi and Williams spent time with some of the mass shooting victims at Christchurch Hospital; shaking hands, posing for selfies, and offering words of comfort. Tu’ungafasi described survivors as an inspiration and prayed for their speedy recovery. He posted on Twitter:
“Verily, with every hardship comes ease. Had the most amazing experience visiting the Muslim Brothers in hospital on the weekend…May the Almighty bless you all with quick recovery. Love and Duas.”
Sonny Bill William's mother also converted the same day while he himself converted to Islam in 2008 after attending prayer services at a Sydney mosque. Recently, many have converted to Islam and got the exposure to the real image of the religion itself. Some examples are of Sinéad O'Connor, Richard McKinney and Joram Van Klaveren. We thank Allah (SWT) for guiding people from different horizons to the right path. Let’s pray that may others also be given Hidayah and practice Islam like it should be. Ameen.
