அஜர்பைஜான் நாட்டில் சுற்றுப் பயணம் மேற்கொண்டுள்ள போப் பிரான்சிஸ், கடவுளின் பெயரில் வன்முறை வேண்டாம் என்று வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளார்.
அஜர்பைஜான் நாட்டில் சுற்றுப் பயணம் மேற்கொண்டுள்ள போப் பிரான்சிஸ் அங்குள்ள இஸ்லாமியர்கள், கிறிஸ்தவர்கள், யூதர்களிடையே உரையாற்றினார்.
மசூதி ஒன்றினை பார்வையிட்டு பின்னர் அவர் பேசுகையில், தனிப்பட்ட நலன்களுக்காக, சுயநலத்திற்காக கடவுளை பயன்படுத்தப்பட முடியாது. அடிப்படைவாத, ஏகாதிபத்திய அல்லது காலனியாதிக்க நியதிகளுக்கு கடவுளை பயன்படுத்த முடியாது என்று கூறினார்.
அஜர்பைஜான் 9 மில்லியன் மக்கள் தொகையை கொண்டுள்ளது. இதில் பெரும்பாலானோர் ஷியா பிரிவினர். மற்ற மதங்களை சேர்ந்தவர்கள் அதிகமான திரண்டிருந்த போது இத்தகையை கோரிக்கையை போப் பிரான்சிஸ் முன் வைத்துள்ளார்.
எண்ணெய் மற்றும் எரிவாயு அதிகம் கொண்டுள்ள இந்த நாடு ரஷ்யா, ஈரான் மற்றும் துருக்கி நாடுகளுடன் எல்லையை பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறது.
